This month, Maeve McParland joined the Habitat NI communications team as part of the Professional Experience Programme through Ulster University.
Starting my internship in September, was probably one of the most hectic times to join the Habitat NI communications team. In the midst of rolling out their ‘Open Doors’ campaign, they took time to introduce me to everyone at Habitat as well as discussing the core objectives of Habitat NI- instilling that at the forefront of all their work was a vision of a world where everyone has a safe, decent place to live.
I was provided with an overview to the various programmes that Habitat NI supports and delivers including ReStore, Youth Build and the Schools and Youth programme and the impact these have to communities both locally and internationally.
It is an exciting year for Habitat NI, as they continue to celebrate their 21st birthday.
Assisting with the marketing of the 21st birthday campaign Open Doors was one of my first projects within Habitat NI. Open Doors key goal is to encourage people to open their door and raise funds for families without a home. Working alongside the communications team was a great insight to how a major marketing campaign is planned, organised and executed. Learn More
During the next few months, I am excited to learn from the team at Habitat NI and look forward to having the opportunity to work on the various projects within the organisation.
