Kube Kitchens is delighted to announce that it has partnered with Habitat for Humanity Ireland on its innovative, sustainability programme ‘Kitchen Rescue’, which operates out of the charity’s social enterprises, Habitat ReStore.

Habitat ReStore is the low-cost DIY store that builds sustainable communities, with six stores located across Northern Ireland and Drogheda. The ‘Kitchen Rescue’ programme was designed to rescue good quality kitchens from landfill, providing a new home for old kitchens. It is aimed at new kitchen customers who would like their old kitchen removed and recycledThese kitchens are then sold in the ReStore, enabling local people to access good quality kitchen units and appliances.

Kube Kitchens is working with Habitat Ireland to promote this sustainability initiative and encourage all of their new customers to donate their old kitchens to this worthy cause.

We are delighted to partner with Habitat for Humanity on Kitchen Rescue, a fantastic initiative which diverts old kitchens from landfill and gives them a new lease of life, as well as raising vital funds for the wonderful work of this charity. Kitchen Rescue benefits our customers as their kitchen is removed for them and they obtain the feelgood factor of doing something positive for the environment, while also donating to charity.

Sustainability is at the heart of Kube Kitchens’ business and we have implemented many initiatives to reduce our carbon footprint. These include sourcing raw materials from responsibly managed forests, using recycled materials in the production of our kitchens, using non-toxic finishes and opting for the most energy-efficient manufacturing processes possible. Kitchen Rescue aligns perfectly with our sustainability strategy says Pat McGrath, Managing Director, Kube Kitchens.

Habitat ReStore is the low-cost DIY store that builds sustainable community, directly tackling poverty here in Ireland. By selling donated new and used DIY and home improvement materials, ReStore enables local people to improve their homes at low cost and diverts tons of reusable waste from landfill.

Niall McConkey, ReStore Impact Manager, Habitat Ireland said, We are excited to partner with Kube Kitchens as a way to promote the ‘Kitchen Rescue’ programme. We have already rescued a number of wonderful kitchens which were available in our Drogheda store. By working alongside local companies like Kube, ‘Kitchen Rescue’ engages customers who would consider donating their good quality, used kitchen to Habitat ReStore. Habitat can provide a service to kitchen donors and, by removing kitchens carefully, rescues them for resale.

Since 2012, Habitat Ireland, has launched five Habitat ReStores across Northern Ireland. Following the success of ReStore Drogheda, which opened in 2022, the charity plans to launch three further ReStores in Ireland, including the first in Dublin later this year.

Last year, ReStores across Ireland enabled 120,000 people to access low-cost materials, offered volunteering opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to learn new skills and diverted 1,600 tons of reusable material from landfill. ReStore helps to build a more sustainable future and contributes to achieving ESG and recycling targets.” adds Niall.
